Chilling connection between John Wayne Gacy’s first job and his last meal

For those not in the know, Gacy is responsible for the sexual assault and murder of at least 33 young people between 1972 and 1976.

The reason for his sinister nickname is that when he wasn’t killing people, he often dressed up as one of his “Pogo the Clown” or “Paches the Clown” alter egos at parties in his neighborhood.

When Gacy was finally arrested and convicted in 1980, he spent 14 years on death row and created paintings of sinister clowns that continued to garner a cult following after his execution in 1994.

Netflix’s latest True Crime offering, Conversations with a Killer: The John Wayne Gacy Recordings, investigates the events leading up to this point by digging through 60 hours of audio files found between Gacy and his defense team.

The three-part documentary also highlights the chilling connection between his first job as a married man and his latest food order, KFC.

You see, along with the audio recordings, there are new interviews with the defendants in the case, including a shocking testimony from one of Gacy’s survivors, Steve Nemmers.

Speaking of his close encounter with the now infamous serial killer, Nemmers reveals that they first met through a friend who worked at one of the KFC stores Gacy runs.

A few years earlier, Gacy married a woman named Marlynn Myers in 1964 when he was 22, and the couple moved to Waterloo, Iowa, where Myers’ father owned several KFC branches.

Although Gacy admits in the documentary that “I could never please my stepfather,” he accepted the job and became manager of all three restaurants.

Outside of the documentary, it is often claimed that Gacy was such a fan of his workplace that he handed out free fried chicken to his colleagues and even insisted on being called “the colonel”.

It seems his love for the canal continued until he was executed by lethal injection at the age of 52. Her last request for food? A bucket of original KFC recipe.

This detail is another chilling reminder that sometimes the most sadistic criminals often appear to be “ordinary” people from the outside.

The same can be said for the infamous serial killer Ted Bundy, who was the subject of the first episode of Netflix. Conversations with the killer documentary series.

Although he appears to be a prominent member of society, Gacy’s notes show that he shows no remorse for his shocking atrocities – until his final moments.

In the segment that aired on the third and final episode, he says, “Hey, I have some news for you guys. I killed 33 times, you will only kill me once. Gacy outwitted them again.
