For breakfast or as a snack, children love these round cookies with chocolate filling. But what is their nutritional value? “60 million consumers” analyzed them. Here are his findings.
A crunchy wrapper, a melting filling and a whole that works wonders in a glass of cold milk… No doubt young and old alike love this famous round shaped chocolate chip cookie. But what are these sweets, which are traditionally tasted with tea, really worth? Are they healthy? And can we abuse it? As part of a recently published special issue of Food Healthy, Delicious and Cheap, 60 Million Consumers conducted a poll about these famous filled biscuits.
Tested 7 packs of filled biscuits
In total, the magazine selected 7 frequently purchased links. One from the national brand (Lu Prince). The remaining 6 are signed by distributor brands (a brand created and operated directly by a major retailer): Lidl, Leclerc, Casino, Carrefour, Auchan and Aldi. Nutriscore, the amount of ingredients, the additives, the percentage of cocoa powder, dietary fiber, saturated fatty acids or even carbohydrates… The Journal of Consumer Advocacy analyzed the various elements that make up recipes. Results? Often these are ultra-processed products with ingredients ranging from 9 to… 18 for certain packages.
